David and Sarah Hellevang, Owners/operators
Both are PADI Dive Instructors and moved to Statia to “live the dream.” After visiting Statia, they both fell in love with the amazing people, the laid back atmosphere, and phenomenal diving. So along with their dog, Kleo, they decided to make that life change they always dreamed of and move to Statia! Though new to Statia, David and Sarah both have a love of diving and look forward to showing you all of the wonders the underwater world of Statia has to offer!
She will probably be one of the first people with which you come in contact, for she helps people plan their trips to Statia. She loves teaching people to dive, the ocean life, and the biology of our marine environment. You will often see her picking up trash both above and below the water! Her favorite dive site is Double Wreck due to the combination of the archeological remnants and all of the small marine creatures that are found all along the historic old wreck.
David is one of the happiest people you are likely to meet! Always willing to do whatever he is able to make your trip enjoyable, David is known as the problem solver and fixer-upper around the shop! David is an avid swimmer and loves boating. His favorite dive site in Statia is Hangover with the abundant overhangs under which to find nurse sharks, lion fish, and eels!
German is a PADI MSDT and IAHD-Americas instructor with hundreds of dive certifications under his belt. He can teach specialties like Deep, Wreck, Emergency O2 provider, Sidemount, Tec Rec Gas Blender, Nitrox, Digital UW Photography, Peak Performance Bouyancy, AWARE Coral Reef Conservation, Project Aware and he wrote his own specialty West Indies Lionfish Containment.
His favorite Divesite here in Statia is Aquarium. Outside Diving German loves to travel, cook, music and photography at the surface and under water. His passions lie in teaching people to dive and progressing their dive skills. German is a skilled cook and will blow you away with his lion fish ceviche!
MC, Padi Divemaster
MC has worked in the hospitality and adventure tourism industry for over 10 years and became a Divemaster because of her passion for being in and around the water. You’ll likely see her driving boats, snorkeling or learning to clean fish when not diving. Her favorite dive site in Statia is Aquarium because of the abundance and variety of creatures one sees there.
